Supplies:
- Magic Tree House Book Vacation Under the Volcano and the Magic Tree House Fact Tracker: Ancient Rome and Pompeii [I try to get books from the library whenever possible, but they don’t always have everything.
- Choose Vacation Under the Volcano and then click on the book; Download the Cross-curriculum unit. We will be using the Reading Guide pages for comprehension for this book instead of a story map.
- Optional: Magic Tree House Games and Puzzles from the Treehouse book [This gets used a lot, but I will try to find alternatives online when possible. I make copies of the pages for easy gluing into the notebook]
- The spiral or composition notebook started with book 1
- Free account at Magic Tree House
- The usual: paper, printer, ink, pencils, crayons or colored pencils
- Other supplies will depend on what additional projects you choose to do
[If using both Magic Tree House and Story of the World curricula, there may be overlapping activities. SOTW focuses more on history, this unit will be more science-focused. We did this book after finishing all the Ancient Rome chapters of SOTW and used it as part of science, making it a unit on volcanoes. See SOTW Ch.39 for more history-related activities about Pompeii.]
