Family Living/Life Skills– This includes daily calendar work using the Elementary Daily Learning Notebook from Confessions of a Homeschooler, AWANA, basic computer skills, and field trips, as well as basic chores around the house.

Math– All-in-One Homeschool Math 3, Khan Academy-Early Math and Third, IXL, and Xtramath, supplemental worksheets (such as Problem of the Day calendars from MathGeekMama), videos, and games. I have found that the same type of work everyday gets frustrating and boring for Cap’n C, so a good rotation of various ways of learning helps him fully understand what he’s learning about.

Language Arts– All-in-One Homeschool Reading 3, All-in-One Homeschool Language Arts 3, Spelling City, IXL, and workbooks. As with the past years, this curriculum is an eclectic mix of sources to give variation and reinforce concepts in multiple ways.

Science- All-in-One Homeschool Earth Science and workbooks, along with a combination of extra resources such as IXL, Magic School Bus, Magic Tree House, and YouTube videos (You can see my playlist here).

Social Studies- Story of the World and tie-in activities from the Magic Tree House Series, Road Trip USA and workbooks for geography, along with IXL and YouTube videos (You can see my playlists here: history and geography).

PE- Swimming lessons, spending every possible minute he can outside running, and riding his bike.

I tend to pick and choose different elements from different sources and tie them together. Even when there is a specific lay-out to a curriculum, such as All-in-One Homeschool, I don’t have my kids do everyday. I spend time before each new year going through each day and choosing what works for us, what will need extra resources, and putting it together into a plan that works for Cap’n C.
